WHAT DO WE HOPE TO ACHIEVE?

Through Life + Atlantic Vineyards we hope to be at the forefront of the projects and new technologies in order to increase the efficiency of our winegrowers and to reduce the environmental impact of our exploitations.

Nowadays Condes de Albarei has 400 partners, covering about 300 hectares of vineyards, what means 3 million Albariño bottles per year.

The history of this winery is linked to that of the Designation of Origin Rías Baixas. Its discoveries and successes raised the wines from Rías Baixas to the higher rank, and so in 1988 a group of winegrowers from O Salnés valley planned a common development based in the elaboration, bottling and marketing of high quality single-varietal Albariño wines.

In 1991 its Albariño wine was awarded with the golden medal in the Challenge du Vin, in Burdeos, the first international award for a white Spanish wine. This award, the first of many, opened doors to foreign markets in five continents.

In June 2008 Condes de Albarei bought the emblematic manor house called Pazo Baión, where nowadays the first "estate wine" in Galicia is elaborated. The land has 22 hectares of vineyards and a high landscape, architectonic, historical and cultural value.

Both Pazo Baión and Condes de Albarei are commited to wine tourism with a wide offer of activities and services. Thanks to this all people have the possibility of visiting our wine culture, learning and enjoying it in our facilities.

Since the winery was opened in 1988, it has been enlarged twice due to the increasing commercialization of wines. Nowadays we have the most modern elaboration and quality control means, 3 elaboration rooms, 1 stabilization room and 1 preservation room, as well as a large area devoted to the reception of grapes, another one for bottling and two storehouses.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

The philosophy of Condes de Albarei is based in a deep respect and care for nature. Because of that, we try to reduce the environmental impact along the elaboration process: from the production of raw material to bottling and labelling.
